Welcome to The Guild Players
The Guild Players have staged 183 productions since their first in 1956, including a wide range of straight plays, comedies, thrillers, melodramas, whodunnits, musicals and pantomimes.
The Guild Players meet at St George's Hall every Tuesday from 7:30pm for about 2 hours and, for several weeks before a show, we also meet on Thursdays, at the same time, at various other local rehearsing venues. We only usually take a break in August and over the Christmas and New Year Holidays
Shows are performed in St George's Hall, High St, Deal, which we rename as The Kilshawe Theatre. We produce 2 or 3 shows a year normally in April, July and December.
Typically our shows run for 3 days, nightly from Thursday to Saturday and, depending on expected demand, we may include a matinee on the Saturday afternoon and open a day earlier on the Wednesday.
Membership of the Society is open to anybody upon payment of the current annual subscription of £15. We also charge a modest show fee of £10 if you are cast in a show.
We are always interested to hear from anyone who would like to contribute to the life and activities of our dynamic amateur theatre group.
As well as people wishing to act we benefit from people with skills in lighting, sound, stage design, choreography, stage construction, front of house, stage management, make-up and costumes. A comprehensive but not exhaustive list in no particular order.
Come and join in whether acting, helping back stage or simply watching the show!
